Folie a Deux to get a delayed release in IMAX screens in India

Folie a Deux to get a delayed release in IMAX screens in India due to Jr NTR-starrer Devara – Part 1

Yes, Joker: Folie à Deux is highly anticipated, especially after the success of the first Joker film. The sequel, set to release in India on October 2, has created excitement for fans eager to see Joaquin Phoenix reprise his role as Arthur Fleck. Interestingly, this installment takes a musical approach, and it will also feature Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn.

As for IMAX screenings, it's common for certain formats or screenings to be staggered in release dates, so October 4 will be the first opportunity for Indian audiences to experience the film on the giant IMAX screen. Fans of the Joker saga are definitely in for a unique viewing experience. Are you planning to watch it in IMAX or regular format?

The release of Joker: Folie à Deux on October 2 in India is indeed strategic, aiming to take advantage of the National Holiday on Gandhi Jayanti. However, due to the prior release of Devara – Part 1 starring Jr NTR, Janhvi Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan on September 27, Joker will be delayed in hitting IMAX screens until October 4. This is because Devara has secured a full week of IMAX showings, maintaining its hold on the premium format until October 3.

The film's global release on October 2 in several countries, including India, will allow it to be among the first markets to watch the sequel. However, South Korea gets the earliest release on October 1. The anticipation is growing despite slow advance bookings since September 2, with sales likely to pick up as the release date nears.

The sequel will feature Joaquin Phoenix once again as Arthur Fleck, and Lady Gaga joining the cast as Harley Quinn adds a fresh dynamic, especially with the musical elements of the film. The delay in IMAX screenings might be a minor hurdle for some, but it's likely that fans will turn out in large numbers for this highly anticipated psychological thriller.

Arshad Warsi clarifies on his ‘joker’ Movie

Arshad Warsi recently addressed the backlash stemming from his comments about Prabhas's character in the film Kalki 2898 AD.

Arshad Warsi's comments sparked controversy, indicating that Prabhas' role in Kalki 2898 AD received mixed reactions from his fans and the cinema world. Warsi mentioned that Prabhas was "used like the Joker," which was a strong criticism of the depth or portrayal of his character in the film.

This remark didn't sit well with some of Prabhas' fans and certain stars from the South Indian film industry, as Prabhas is widely adored, and comparing his role to that of the Joker might have been seen as inappropriate or negative by some. However, such criticism is common in the film industry, where the portrayal of characters and the presentation of films often evoke varying opinions.

At the time of the film's release, its grand direction and large-scale cinematography were widely praised, turning it into a major cinematic event.

After facing strong backlash on social media for his comments, Arshad Warsi has now issued a clarification, stating that his remarks were misunderstood. He emphasized that his words were solely about Prabhas' character and were not meant to insult his acting skills in any way. In fact, while praising the Telugu superstar's talent, Arshad told PTI, "Everyone has their own perspective, and people love to make noise. I was talking about the character, not the person. He is a brilliant actor, and he has repeatedly proven his talent, as we all know. And when we give a great actor a weak character, it becomes heartbreaking for the audience."

For those unfamiliar, Arshad Warsi shared his experience of watching the film during the 'Unfiltered by Some Desh' YouTube channel. The actor compared the film to movies like Mad Max and expressed a desire to see someone like Mel Gibson in such roles. " Speaking about Prabhas, he added, "I felt really bad, but why was he like the Joker? Why? I wanted to see a Mad Max, man, I wanted to see Mel Gibson there. What have you done? I’ll never understand why filmmakers do this."

Kalki 2898 AD is a science fiction drama inspired by Indian mythology. Along with Prabhas, the film stars Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in lead roles, with several other notable celebrities in supporting roles. It was released in June this year in multiple languages, including Hindi.
